Integrity and Passion.

I was born Andrew John Beck in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in January of 1963. I was raised in Milwaukee through the turbulent 60s and 70s and attended Milwaukee Public Schools, graduating in 1981 from Washington High School. After high school, I attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, working on a social welfare degree, but just for a short period. I continued to work in the restaurant industry until I set off to gain a bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Then, in 1992, I decided to change my career path and got my certificate in Radiologic Technology. With this certificate I worked clinically as an MRI tech until I joined GE Healthcare in Waukesha in product development. Later, I received my MBA from Cardinal Stritch University while working at GE and raising a family.

My family is a huge part of my life. I have two brothers and one sister, two of which live locally, and I have two children of my own. My parents have since passed. However, my parents formed the backbone of my adult life, understanding that people are very important in my life and in the community. They have instilled my values and my integrity, which I hope to bring to Congress. My parents were also strong with unions; my mother having worked for Milwaukee Public Schools and a member of the Teachers Union, along with my father working for Briggs & Stratton and a member of their local union. My grandfather and uncles were very strong in the labor movement in Milwaukee. Their work made the union effort even stronger in the 60s and 70s. I, too, have been a union member for about 10 years of my working life. I am very happy to see the renaissance of the labor movement and unions as we go through these difficult economic times.

I am currently living in West Bend, Wisconsin, having moved here about five years ago. I have lived in the Fifth District for about 20 years of my life and would like to bring changes to make the district better. I would also like to grow the relationship the fifth district constituents have with their representatives in Washington. I have been a lifelong Democrat voting in almost every election since 1981. I voted for Walter Mondale in 1984 and every other Democratic presidential candidate up to Joe Biden in 2020.
